ObjectiveTo encourage the development of a broadly based pool of squash coaches.
Principles1. The commitment of individuals toward becoming squash coaches will be encouraged and supported by Squash Nova Scotia. 2. More coaches lay a foundation for more player development and growth in the squash community.
Coaching Development Polices1. Squash Nova Scotia will share in the costs to develop coaching qualifications of committed individuals. In general, Squash Nova Scotia will subsidize the costs for individuals to attain the different levels of coaching certification on the following scale:
Coaching Certification SNS subsidy Level 1 25% Level 2 50% Level 3 or higher 100%
2. SNS must approve the individual’s development costs before the training is undertaken. SNS will determine the form of the subsidy. In some cases, the subsidy will be in the form of a reimbursement of costs for the individual to attain certification from another provider. In other cases where SNS is the sponsor of the clinic, the subsidy may be included in the registration fee.
3. For qualified coaches who are willing to conduct a coaching clinic, SNS will provide an honorarium of $400 for a weekend clinic (16-20 hours). SNS will also work with the host club and clinic coach to organize logistics, procure manuals, and supplement promotional activities for the clinic. The clinic must be attended by a minimum of four participants.
4. For non-metro events, SNS will supplement the honorarium by $100 plus reimburse the individual for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred in travelling to the clinic location. Registration fees for non-metro sponsored events may be adjusted to reflect the higher costs of sponsoring the event.
